Workshop on
Pulsed Power Technology and Applications

February 10th and 11th, 2025
Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics, Garching, Germany

Hosted by the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics, the 2025 annual workshop of the ISP was about pulsed power technology and its applications. The topic was intentionally kept very open and was open for all possible applications around the topic of pulsed power.

The annual ISP workshop series is intended to regularly provide the possibility of networking within the pulsed power community and to support the scientific / technical exchange between science, industry and students. The frame of the workshop provided a more intimate opportunity for social and technical interaction than a large conference. The organizational and, thus, the cost were kept at a minimum of 100 € per participant. The workshop was accompanied by a visit of the ASDEX Upgrade divertor tokamak and the annual member meeting of the ISP.

The overall goal of the ASDEX Upgrade Programme is to establish the scientific basis for the optimisation of the tokamak approach to fusion energy and especially to prepare the next steps: ITER and DEMO. The topics Fusion and Pulsed Power are close to each other and have many overlaps. Therefore, it is a great pleasure and honor for the ISP that the Max Planck Institute of Plasma Physics has offered to host this workshop and the member meeting.
